A Gamer’s Holiday Wish List

All I want for Christmas is…

The PLane Below Cover
I figured I might as well publish my wish list for those friends and family that are still looking for last minute items to get me. I’m not really too hard to shop for really, just look back over the last six months of Wizards of the Coast releases for D&D 4e and there’s a lot of stuff to choose from to get me for Christmas!

Almost certainly topping my wish list this year is The Plane Below: Secrets of the Elemental Chaos,
which looks absolutely amazing and has had some great reviews. Given how much the Cosmology of the D&D Multiverse has changed since 4e came out, it seems like this book is a “must have” for just about any Dungeon Master.

Draconomicon Cover
Another book I’d love to find under my tree is Draconomicon: Metallic Dragons. I really enjoyed the first Draconomicon detailing the chromatic dragons, and I think it’s only fair to want to balance things by having the “good” dragon counterpart on the shelf. I’ve been fairly intrigued how Bahamut has become a much more potent force as a deity in 4e, and I’ve heard there is a great deal of good reference material in this supplement about him.

I also still have not purchased Adventurer’s Vault 2 for myself yet either,
but I am actually kind of on the fence about this one. I know that my Players, in both my 4e Campaigns, would love for me to have more “toys” to throw at them, but we’ve barely even scratched the surface of the first Adventurer’s Vault. I think I can probably wait on this one – not that’ I’d turn it down if it was stuffed in my stocking!

Finally, I have to admit that this year, the one item that really tops my Christmas List isn’t from Wizards of the Coast – I know… blasphemy! But since starting the Neuroglyph Games website, and blogging daily – as well as writing material for my upcoming releases – I have had to give up playing “World of Warcrack”. Not that I’m complaining about losing my “warcrack” addiction mind you – it was a fun diversion for a while, but I’ve found the process of launching Neuroglyph Games to be a much more rewarding activity than “raiding Naxx”.

However, I do miss sitting down in front of my computer and just having fun, spending time just larking around with a good computer game. I tried EVE, and actually did their full two week trial subscription, but as visually stunning as the game is, I’m really in a Heroic Fantasy, not Sci-Fi Commerce mood.

So I’m really hoping that I get a new computer game for Christmas, but I’m not hoping for an MMORPG. What I’m really hoping for is a copy of Dragon Age: Origins – preferably the Collector’s edition! This game looks absolutely mind-blowing, and the game play is a bit more appealing to me. Given all my new projects, being able to actually save a game, and being able to play when I decide, sounds a whole lot better than spending hours waiting to form a raid.

But no matter what I get for Christmas, I’m just happy to be with family and friends this year. And I hope that all my Readers have a great Holiday, wherever you may be.

So until next blog… I wish you Happy Gaming and a Wonderful Holiday!

I have to say, you are right on about Dragon Age. In fact, I’m hoping that you get it too, because it’s just that awesome. The graphics are spot on and the characters are actually amazingly developed. There are just so many different options for play. I’ll cross my fingers for you!

I’ve got The Plane Below and Draconomicon 2 on my Christmas list too. Dragon Age is excellent – best computer game I’ve played in ages!

  3. I think I’ve hit upon the perfect gamer Christmas wish list lol

  4. Well I didn’t do too bad this year… I got Dragon’s Age Origins! Yeah! Oh, and a bookstore gift card that is totally going toward most of The Plane Below – so I guess I can’t complain!
