EN World Review – The Dark Totem Part 1: The Missing Child by Rocks Fall Games

the dark totem part 1 coverHappy Holidays everyone!  I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas holiday, and that you found all kinds of new games and gaming goodies under your tree this year!  I had a great Christmas here, and got some new DVDs I’m looking forward to perusing over the New Years’ Eve, along with a great bottle of wine from a local vineyard!

Today I have a new review of an adventure module written for the Pathfinder RPG, although it could be adapted to 3.5/OGL just as well.  Rocks Fall Games released an adventure designed for 5th Level characters called The Dark Totem Part 1: The Missing Child, featuring a dire ruins near a small town taken over by an evil cult – who have kidnapped a child for some dark purpose.

Review of The Dark Totem Part 1: The Missing Childby Rocks Fall Games

Sadly, this adventure was not particularly well-written or designed, and I found it impossible to recommend it to anyone.  While some OGL and GSL publishers provide excellent materials for use with D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder RPG, this product demonstrates that some publishers drop stuff on the gaming market which are not worth the paper it’s printed on – or in the case of a PDF like this one, not worth the bandwidth to download it.  It’s no great pleasure to pan a game product – but then again, with a product like this, it was no great pleasure to have to read it to write the review.

So until next year… I wish you a Happy New Years!

I think a kinder thing would have been to not have reviewed this product than give such a crushing review. Ugh- I almost now want to buy the item in sympathy for the poor fella who designed the product. Either way I sleep just fine at night.
