Get Ready! International TableTop Day is Coming!

TableTopDay_300x250Unless you’ve somehow been living in some bizarre alternate reality for the past few years, you’ve probably found yourself watching Wil Wheaton and a coterie of celebs playing all kinds of board games, card games, and role-playing games on TableTop!  Sponsored by Felicia Day’s Geek & Sundry YouTube Channel, this web series has touched the lives of millions of gamers and non-gamers alike, with its ongoing mission to introduce viewers to great games out there, and to encourage everyone to “Play More Games!”

According to an email from Geek & Sundry, they’ve been “getting email after email about how TableTop has helped people through difficult times by introducing them or reintroducing them to gaming.”  So in response to the overwhelming enthusiasm of the fans to TableTop, Geek & Sundry is sponsoring the first International TableTop Day on Saturday March 30th, and is encouraging everyone to spend the day gaming at local hobby stores, community centers, coffee houses, or even at home.

Just a couple days ago, Felicia Day posted a video introducing the International TableTop Day initiative, which you can view here:

Felicia Announces International #TableTopDay on March 30, 2013!

The staff at Geek & Sundry are partnering with local stores and game publishers to promote the event, and to try and get at least one even in every city across the world.  Those sponsoring games on International TableTop Day are encouraged to go to the official website and sign up their gaming event, and to use #TableTopDay on their social media to get more folks aware and involved in the fun!

For my part, I wanted to see what kind of participation there was going to be for International Gaming Day up here in the ‘burbs near Detroit, but nothing had been posted yet on the official website.  So I did some calling around to the gaming and comic book stores in my area, and made this listing of events within 20 miles or so from my home:

As it turns out, it looks like there will be plenty of gaming venues around my area, and I’m definitely looking forward to having a blast on International TableTop Day!  I even have my regular D&D 4E game that day, so I thinks it’s pretty likely I’ll be gaming from morning to midnight March 30th!

So if you want to participate in a great gaming event, be sure to sign up or find a gaming event near you for International TableTop Day… and remember to “Play More Games!”

So until next blog… I wish you happy gaming!
