But having played this style back in the day, it's just not that exciting to me. I like playing larger-than life heroes. Different people are inspired by different things. I’m glad you had fun. I once played an AD&D game where we rolled up characters with ability scores done 3d6 in order, and ended up with average stats except for a 5 INT and 18 WIS. I ended up playing the character as a cleric, simple-minded and innocent (gullible), but with enormous willpower and gifted with flashes of insight - sort of a child-like adult/idiot-savant. To me, low ability scores can be presented as a caricature, which I've always seen as a great path to character personality development. @Ron – I think that’s true in part, but one or two low scores provides a role-playing opportunity by making the player consider why his or her character has these “faults”. I'm sure it can be done other ways, but the important thing is for it to happen, some way, what ever way. I REALLY like Dungeon Crawl Classics. The funnel is one of the best parts of the DCCRPG system. I'm actually doing all my writing/publishing for DCCRPG now and would be happy to send you my adventure for a review (I didn't originally send "Frawgs" over like I did Larvik as I thought you were strictly a 4E guy... drop me a line and I'd be happy to get a PDF to you.)
